You’ll need 2-3x containers this week!

And our tomatoes have come on quicker than expected - tomatoes for everyone this week and for the next few months!

This week we have:

1. Carrots (Ahoaho māra kai)

2. Cucumbers (Ahoaho māra kai)

3. Zucchini (Ahoaho māra kai & Crooked Vege Ōtaki)

4. Salad Mix (Crooked Vege Ōtaki)

5. & 6. Choose two: fill your own Microgreens, fill your coriander, Dill bunches (Crooked Vege Ōtaki)

7. Kamokamo or Pak Choi (Crooked Vege Ōtaki)

8. Tomatoes (Crooked Vege Ōtaki)

Vege highlights + suggested uses:

Kamokamo

Some vege bag members may not be familiar with kamokamo - and others won’t need any cooking suggestions at all! This is a pretty old vegetable, and seems to be unique to Aotearoa - although its whakapapa is shared with zucchini, some squashes and pumpkins, from the plant family cucurbita pepo - one of the oldest domesticated plant families (8000-10,000 years ago!)

I won’t suggest specific recipes, as Kamokamo is really versatile and can be used similarly to zucchini. It works really well in boil ups, steamed and stir fries. Personally, I like simply slicing it and frying it with garlic and butter, but others like to mash it or turn it into fritters.

Ka kite,
Jon
