Vege highlights + suggested uses:
Zucchini
Zucchinis are here! We’ve been harvesting the first flush of zuchs for a few days now - always a novelty at the start of the season and a sign of the abundance (and zucchini fritters) to come.
We’re having zucchini on top of pizza tonight, and yesterday had them halved lengthways and fried, along with some roasted pumpkin and salad.
Spring garlic
Spring garlic is regular garlic which has been harvested before the bulb of cloves has fully formed. Live2Give planted their garlic in a spot which was too wet so they made the decision to pull these little shoots up and make room for a more productive sowing.
They look a lot like spring onions, and you can use them much the same. You can also use in place of garlic, but spring garlic has a milder flavour than it does when fully formed. Make sure you use the green tops as well as the white bulby part.
