jon and george have been away this week on some massively overdue rest time. so i’ve been keeping the farm ticking over. the mahi that these two put into growing kai is phenomenal, ill be both relieved and eager to share the space with them again next week. for now, Heres what to expect from the maara this week.

This week we have:

  1. Salad (Ahoaho māra kai)

  2. Salad Radishes (Ahoaho māra kai)

  3. Cavolo/Silverbeet (Crooked Vege Ōtaki)

  4. Microgreens, parsley or Dill (Crooked Vege Ōtaki)

  5. Carrots (Crooked Vege Ōtaki) or leeks (Live to give Organics)

  6. Beetroot (Live to give Organics)

  7. Cauliflower (warren), Nappa cabbage or Broccoli (Kai Ora Initiative)

  8. Pumpkins (Crooked Vege Ōtaki/Live2Give Organics) or Potatoes (Mingiroa Farm)

Vege highlights/suggested uses

Cauliflower

i looked up from my laptop to ask Kura and Gigi what their favourite ways of cooking cauliflower was. an unanimous response from the three of us. roasted, with cumin seeds, turmeric and curry flavours. it holds a high place on my list of favoured winter vege.
