How it works
Te Pātaka is an honesty, self serve fridge for vege grown by locals who prioritise the environment and the community.
You can pay via cash, or through the "MyHonestyBox" app.
Currently it is stocked by ourselves, Ahoaho Mārakai and Whānau Collective.
Kaupapa
Te Pātaka cuts out the middlemen (retailers and distribution companies taking a cut), aiming to create a fairer deal for vege growers and vege eaters who value good, locally grown food. We use growing practices that prioritise the health of the whenua and the nutritional quality of the kai.
Led by kotahitanga we are exploring how small-scale farms can work together to thrive in opposition to the exploitation of conventional farming and supermarket kai models for the wellbeing of people and our taiao. It is a small step towards food sovereignty.
